Lifestyle influencer, Rosita, announced in a post on social media, “Drinking my tadpole water, hoping to get snatched by Thursday", by also featuring close-up shots of the viral libation. After Ozempic and Mounjaro, “tadpole water” mania is currently one of the latest slenderizing hacks to get swept on social media influencing teenage groups.

However, the 'special' water is known to be armed with nothing more than a bottle of warm water ( H2O), a couple of tablespoons of chia seeds and a squeeze of fresh lemon, teens, and twenty-somethings online are purportedly shredding excess fat with this famous homemade concoction. This trend, gets its name as chia seeds resemble baby frogs in a pond.

Internet trends become GenZ's Health Solutions

“Tadpole water,” Mariah Padilla, 18 years old teenager, began in a buzzy Tik-Tok bulletin claiming, “I can confirm that it does work for weight loss.” As the swing towards becoming Insta-thin accelerates, seeing wannabe weight-loss queens constantly skip their meals and the setting of fad diets in a battle against the bulge, folks are now cooking up creative ways to drop a few kilos quickly.

Much like the“Rice-Zempic” and “Oat-Zempic” trends which had earlier encouraged dieters to mix either rice or oats with water and lime juice to suppress one's appetite, similarly the chia seeds in tadpole water have gained popularity as they are believed to possess pound-blasting properties.

Corresponding to the same, a detailed recent report from Harvard Health claimed that “Chia seeds are packed with nutrients that may support numerous health benefits."

The experts added that the seeds are loaded with fiber, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that often support our digestive health and help in weight management. They also help lower both blood pressure along with one's cholesterol levels.

“When chia seeds are ingested,” added the researchers, “they form a gel-like substance in the stomach that can increase your feeling of fullness and decrease your appetite and calorie intake.” And despite its disgusting tang, waist-watchers everywhere are leaping like frogs to chug tadpole water.

Meanwhile, Jen, an artsy cuisine enthusiast, reminded netizens about, the “health tip of the day,” she firmly stated in the clip saying, “If you don’t put water in your chia seeds before you consume them, your chia seeds will expand in your stomach, causing a blockage which results in severe constipation.” “And it’s just going to disrupt your digestive system,” she advised. “You’re welcome.”

Digital trends have unfortunately become a sheepwalk for the netizens today, especially teenagers who start believing in them without the proper fact-check. This not only ruins their health but also destroys their mindset making them overly conscious of their bodies.
