Weight loss has become a major concern for women these days. Many of them are not happy with their body and weight and are trying really hard to get into a certain 'ideal' shape or weight. However, as great is the obsession with weight loss, greater is the lack of knowledge or in a way, the abundance of false facts online. Here's what author Luke Coutinho has to say about that.
It is not wrong to say that weight loss has become a goal for most people, especially women in today's time. While the purpose behind it can be a healthy body or a slim one, it is true that the entire process is surrounded by myths and misinformation. In a world of 'jo dikhta hai wo bikta hai', women believe that a thin waist, big butt, and slender arms are the definition of looking attractive.
However, there are also women who actually know that their weight is causing health issues and they need to lose it for the sake of their well-being. Integrative and lifestyle medicine expert and author Luke Coutinho think that are faults in the way Indian women approach weight loss.

Luke Coutinho On Weight Loss Issues In Indian Women
We often see women complaining about not seeing results from working out and dieting. They would talk about going on intense diets and doing rigorous workouts to see faster results but the thing is that weight loss happens at its own pace. Luke Coutinho, in an ">interview with STP, said, "They don't understand it's taken two, three, four years for them to put on that weight. It's not going anywhere in three months. You can start the process, you can lose it, but you can't punish the weight of the body."
It often happens that women think that their diet or lifestyle is the reason behind obesity or weight gain. However, weight depends largely on hormones as well. Many women in India suffer from hormonal imbalance and hence, losing and gaining weight is different for them than others. Coutinho said that women would often opt for diets low in fats and carbs which deprives their bodies of nutrition and energy which eventually causes stress. Additionally, the desperation to lose weight quickly increases stress as well. And weight loss becomes really difficult if the person is under constant stress.
According to Coutinho, outside food and lifestyle also plays an important role in weight loss. The frequent meals in restaurants, the portions they consume, and the type of food will obviously have a counter-effect on your weight loss efforts. As people are earning more, they are switching to more lavish lifestyles, and eating in expensive restaurants, which is wrong and ends up having a bad effect on their health as well.
