Vegan Hot Chocolate Recipes

Nowadays, many of us are vegan and avoid animal products like milk and cheese due to various reasons like health issues and moral grounds. And for those vegans out there, we have these vegan hot chocolate recipes that can be an alternate to your favourite drink. You don't need to miss out on the pleasures of a warm cup of hot chocolate just because you are vegan. So, without further ado, let's get that chocolate melting.

Delicious Vegan Hot Chocolate Recipes : Let's Do It Without Dairy Milk

Hazelnut Spiced Hot Chocolate

  1. In a blender, add 2 cups hazelnut milk, 2 tbsp hazelnut butter, 3 tbsp cacao powder (unsweetened and raw), 1/2 tbsp Maple syrup, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, pinch of salt, nutmeg essential oil and cinnamon bark essential oil (1 drop each).
  2. Blend smooth until froth forms. Then heat on a stove to warm it.
  3. You can add an optional garnish of vegan whipped cream and 2 cinnamon sticks.

Blood Orange Hot Chocolate

  1. In a saucepan, add 2 cups of almond/oat milk and chopped dark chocolate and melt it on a medium flame. Whisk constantly and make sure not to burn it.
  2. Then add 2 tbsp orange juice, sugar (or any other sweetener) and 3 tbsp cocoa powder and warm the milk for about 3-5 minutes. Top with vegan whipped cream and orange zest and enjoy while binge-watching.

Red Wine Hot Chocolate

  1. Add 2 cups milk (of your choice), 1/2 tbsp Maple syrup, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, chopped dark chocolate and 1 tbsp corn starch (corn starch is to make it thick, adjust the amount accordingly while cooking) in a saucepan.
  2. Heat the ingredients until the chocolate melts and the milk thickens. Make sure it is thick enough that it does not watery when you add wine. Then add a splash of red wine and remove from heat. Pour in a cup and enjoy immediately.

Coconut Hot Chocolate

  1. Add 1 and a half cups coconut milk, 1 cup dark chocolate (chips or chopped) and 1 tsp vanilla extract in a sauce pan and melt the chocolate on low heat.
  2. Pour in a cup and add 1/4 cup shredded coconut and enjoy.

Red Velvet Hot Chocolate

  1. In a sauce pan, heat 2 cups of milk (of your choice) and 4 dates until it simmers.
  2. Add the milk and dates to a blender followed by 1 tbsp cacao powder and 1/2 tsp beet powder and blend until it turns creamy and frothy. Pour in a mug and enjoy.
