Zareen Khan body shaming: Actor Zareen Khan revealed that she weighed more than 100 kg in college. It was only when she entered the film industry that she faced body shaming.
Zareen Khan, who made her debut in the 2010 movie Veer opened up about being body-shamed to a leading Hindi daily. She said that she weighed more than 100 kg during her student life but had to deal with fat-shaming when she started acting. "The fact is, that I weighed more than 100 kg when I was in school and college. But no one dared say anything to me," Khan said.
She added that whenever she heard someone is being bullied because of their weight, she would think, 'how can that be?' "I have always been like this so I was never bullied. I only faced body-shaming when I entered the film industry. I could not understand," she continued.
Khan thought that she did not face this when she was much heavier and now that she is half her weight, people call her fat. The actor then continued saying that it did not affect her. Being an actor, she believes that she should be judged based on her acting skills and not factors like weight, colour or height. She further said that there are people in the industry who do not support the concept of body-shaming. "However, when they make a film, they only want zero-sized girls for their movie. There is a lot of show-offs and double standard in our industry," the Housefull 2 actor said.
Zareen Khan body shaming: a struggle since the beginning
When Khan made her Bollywood debut in 2010, she was compared to the actor Katrina Kaif. She spoke about the comparison and being fat -shamed in an interview this year. The makers of the movie asked her to put on weight. She played the role of an 18th-century queen and they wanted to keep it authentic. "That did not go down well, and I was fat-shamed. I was called 'Fatrina'," she told a leading daily in February.
