Yellowstone Beth and Rip: Throughout the four seasons, Paramount’s Yellowstone has focused much of the narrative on takes of political backstabbing, opportunistic land grabbing, cattle rustling and etc. But somehow, the romance made its way onto the screen through the violence.
Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) were seen getting married in the recently-concluded season four. The ardent fans of the blockbuster American series are waiting for season five to see more of their favourite couple live their happily-ever-after.
The romance between Rip and Beth is one of the most intriguing and endearing storylines on the show. However, in a recent interview, Hauser admitted that the relationship between Rip and Beth was not originally seen as a central element on the show. Hauser said that an intimate scene featuring the two in the pilot episode led Taylor Sheridan to change the trajectory of the relationship.
“I remember walking out of the scene and everybody was just kind of glued to the monitors… And I looked at them and they all looked up like, a ‘Wow, that was amazing kind of feeling,” the actor spoke about the initial sex scene which then led to the fleshing of Rip and Beth’s relationship as viewers see now.
With the makers announcing changes in the plot for the upcoming season, it has casted doubts over the power couple's future since Beth has not yet told Rip about her abortion and forced sterilisation. A user commented that Beth should let Rip on everything and let him decide. “I’d really like to see Beth play her card to tell Rip about the abortion and sterilization and have him walk away from her for lying and not trusting him. She made her choice to lie just like Jamie made his choice. Both were wrong and as she said, based on fear,” one fan wrote.

A Look Back At Rip and Beth’s Relationship
Reportedly, the flashbacks in season two gave an insight into the early attraction between Rip and Beth as teenagers. And it was evident right off the bat that their relationship has skewed power dynamics. Beth, who is the daughter of the ranch Rip works at, yields power over him as she is his employer’s daughter. It was evident when a teenager Beth commanded Rip to kiss him.
Moreover, their relationship seems to be based on personal healing for both of them. While Rip is still scarred from having seen his sibling and mother getting murdered in front of his eyes by his father, Beth is emotionally broken because of her family feuds, especially Jamie Dutton, her sibling, getting her sterilised without her consent.
They might be navigating through their trauma together, which undoubtedly is not easy, but it was endearing to see Beth propose Rip. It is clear that the two are inseparable.
But will things take a wrong turn for the couple as suggested? Viewers can only wait for season five to conclude to answer their queries.
