Comedian and TV anchor Subi Suresh passed away at the age of 41 at a private hospital in Kochi on Wednesday. She was reportedly undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments for quite some time. Unfortunately, her condition worsened, and she was struck with pneumonia before breathing her last at 10 am this morning.
Subi Suresh began her career as a mimicry artist. However, she soon became a household name after participating in the evergreen comedy show Cinemala. Her hilarious avatars in the show are loved and enjoyed by the audience. After gaining popularity from the show, she got opportunities to act in Malayalam movies. She has acted in comical supporting roles in films including Happy Husbands, Kankanasimhasanam, and more.
Who was Subi Suresh?
After the sensational comedy show Cinemale on the small screen, she became popular with the children’s show Kutty Pattalam. Her humorous interactions with the children were much loved by the audience.
After that, she was seen in a cooking show named Kutty Kalavara. She also made a comeback to Malayalam TV with the show Labour Room. She has also hosted numerous television shows in Malayalam and was much loved for her spontaneity and humour.
In 2021, Subi Suresh was lauded for her befitting reply to a social media user who made an unpleasant comment about her clothing style. She wrote, "I’m fed up with such moral policing, uncles. Thinking he was trying to be famous." She was widely appreciated for her fitting response and her signature humour.
Subi Suresh’s unfortunate and untimely demise has left the entire entertainment industry and audience in deep distress.
Many celebrities took to their social media handles to pay tribute to the late comedy actor. Actor Dulquer Salman shared a photo of himself with Subi Suresh on Twitter and wrote, "Absolutely shocked to hear about Subi Suresh. So young and so much left to do. A real loss to the Malayalam film fraternity. Praying for her family and friends to cope through this difficult time."
Actor Mohanlal wrote on his Facebook page, "Subi Suresh, the beloved artist who captured the love of the Malayali audience with a smile, left us untimely. Painful condolences on the departure of dear sister, who was supposed to go to many heights in acting and presentation.
"Subi was indeed a top artist, and we shouldn’t have lost her in this day and age. May Subi continues to make us laugh in our memories," wrote actor and politician Suresh Gobi on Facebook.
