Suhail Nayyar plays the role of Sharmaji's boring son in the movie Sharmaji Namkeen that is late actor Rishi Kapoor's last film. Rishi Kapoor was not able to complete the shooting of the entire film and hence the remaining part was shot by Paresh Rawal as the lead character.
Sharmaji Namkeen features the post retirement journey of Sharmaji who wants to pursue his passion for cooking after his 60. However, he is often seen scolded by his son for doing and thinking of crazy things instead of spending his retirement life in peace and solitude like the other elders of the society. Actor Suhail Nayyar plays this society fearing man who tries to stop his father from starting a cooking business and hanging out with ladies in the fear of log kya kahenge.
Who Is Suhail Nayyar?
Suhail is a Punjabi born in Delhi and he completed his post graduation in acting and film studies from Pune's Film And Television Institute Of India from 2011 to 2013. He started out with theatre and pursued it actively from the year 2008. After FTII, he went to Mumbai and landed his first Bollywood role in 2016 with the film Udta Punjab where he plays Shahid Kapoor's cousin. Suhail is an ambivert who loves art, music and poetry. He is often seen posting words from his favourite authors on Instagram. He also has a good sense of humour and memes and is a memer himself as described in his Insta bio.
Suhail has worked in various popular films and web series including Commando 2 (2017), Hotel Mumbai (2019), Ginny Weds Sunny (2020), Life Sahi Hai (2016-2018), The Test Case (2018) and Hasmukh (2020). His character from Hotel Mumbai gained praise where he played the role of terrorist Abdullah who was involved during the 26/11 attacks on the Taj Hotel, Mumbai. The Indian-American-Australian movie directed by Anthony Maras had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018. His character as Ginny's ex-boyfriend in Ginny Weds Sunny was also well recieved by the viewers.
In Sharmaji Namkeen, Suhail plays the role of Sandeep Sharma, aka Rinku, a working young man who is annoyed by his father's hyperactive nature. He expects his father to live a life that other retired people in the society live, taking walks and attending Zumba classes. He sticks by the norms of the society that people should behave in a certain way after a certain age and when his father tells him that he wants to start a food business and is often seen hanging around with ladies, he gets pissed.
