Fashion designer Saisha Shinde played a big part in the historic Miss Universe 2021 win for India. She was the one who designed the gown Harnaaz Sandhu was seen wearing on the stage when she was bestowed with the crown.

Shinde shared the picture of Sandhu on her social media handle after her win and wrote, "We did it." She earlier spoke to News 18 about making the gown for the Miss Universe pageant and said, "There is a certain expectation from Miss India at an International pageant. She has to look elegant, exquisite and the gowns needs to look delicate and dainty but at the same time powerful, strong, which incidentally my brand has become now after I have transitioned into a woman."

She had shared a glimpse of the outfit on her Instagram stories earlier.
Who Is Saisha Shinde?

- Shinde came out as transgender at the beginning of 2021. She took the name Saisha and explained its meaning that is a meaningful life. She said that she wants to hers that way.
- Shinde said that it was only six years ago that she accepted her transgender identity.
- She wrote on her social media handle, " I am not a gay man. I am transwoman."
- She had shared that people at the boys at her school used to bully her and she had to "stage everything" because of societal expectations and norms.
- Shinde went to National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) . She also did an internship at the House of Versace in Italy.

- She participated in reality show Lakme Fashion House and stood runner up.
- In the past few years, she has designed may outfits for famous Bollywood actors such Priyanka Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor and many others.
- She had also designed costumes for the actors in National award-winning film directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, Fashion.
- In 2007, she started her own brand in her name.
