AR Rahman's Daughter Khatija Engaged: All About Her Fiance Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed

Who is Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed? Musician AR Rahman's eldest daughter, Khatija Rahman announced her engagement to Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed yesterday on Instagram.

Khatija Rahman shared a collage on her Instagram account which featured a black and white photograph of her fiancee Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed and an image of hers from the engagement ceremony. "With the blessings of the Almighty I'm happy to announce to you all my engagement with Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed @riyasdeenriyan, an aspiring entrepreneur and a wizkid audio engineer," she wrote in her post.

Khatija Rahman also revealed that the two got engaged on her birthday (December 29) in the presence of close family and loved ones.

Several singers, including Harshdeep Kaur, Shweta Pandit and Neeti Mohan congratulated the couple through their comments on her Instagram post. While Kaur commented, "Congratulations to the both of you. God Bless!!" Shweta Pandit wrote, "Little baby girl is all set to walk the aisle. So happy for you". Neeti Mohan called Khatija's engagement "a wonderful moment."

Who is Khatija Rahman?

The 25-year-old daughter of Acadamy Award winner AR Rahman is a musician as well. Mostly known for singing songs in Tamil language films, Khatija also sang the song "Rock A Bye Baby" from the film Mimi, which was composed by her father. The film featured actor Kriti Sanon in lead and touched upon the subject of surrogacy.

In 2020, Khatija was in news after writer Taslima Nasreen criticised her for wearing a hijab. "I absolutely love A R Rahman's music. But whenever i see his dear daughter, i feel suffocated. It is really depressing to learn that even educated women in a cultural family can get brainwashed very easily!" Nasreen had tweeted.

Responding to the tweet, Khatija Rahman had said that the decision to wear a veil had been a personal choice and had nothing to do with her parents. “I would like to say that the attire I wear or the choices I make in life has nothing to do with my parents. The veil has been my personal choice with complete acceptance and honour. I am a sane mature who knows to make her choices in life,” she wrote on Facebook.

Who is Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed? 

Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed is an entrepreneur and audio engineer. His Instagram bio says that he works as a Live Sound Engineer for AR Rahman and musician Amit Trivedi. He is also a certified engineer for Wave Studio, Audinate and Avid Pro Tools.

Mohamed too had shared the collage that was posted by Khatija Rahman from his handle, with the caption, "With the blessings of the Almighty I’m happy to announce to you all my engagement with Khatija Rahman, @khatija.rahman musician, producer & philanthropist. The engagement happened on 29th December, on her birthday in the presence of close family and loved ones."
