Ms. Marvel is an upcoming series, revolving around Kamala Khan, a Pakistani American teen. Kamala Khan's character was the first-ever Muslim hero in Marvel, breaking ground back in 2014. She was the first Muslim character to star in her own title. However, Kevin Faige, Chief Of Marvel Studios stated that in addition to appearing in the series, Kamala Khan will also be included in future Marvel films on the big screens. The search for an actor to play the same is still on. Kamala Khan's character will play a Pakistani American living in an orthodox family in New Jersey, trying to pave her own path.

Who is Meera Menon? Indian Origin Director To Helm Ms.Marvel
Meera Menon is an Indian–American director, writer, and editor, who is currently based in Los Angeles, California. She is said to have been inspired to take up filmmaking, early on in life, by her father Vijayan Menon, a film producer and a founder of Tara Arts, a cultural center that showcases musicals and films. She won the inaugural Nora Ephron Prize for her feature directorial debut, Farah Goes Bang, screened at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2013.
Meera Menon has a BA in English and Art History from Columbia University, along with some filmmaking classes. She went on to receive a Master Of Fine Arts from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. While at Columbia, she took up filmmaking as a hobby which later on grew into a career. She also works as an editor for Larry King Now and does freelance camera work and art direction. She directed the female-driven Wall Street drama Equity in 2015, which was screened at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
Meera Menon is well known for her direction in Outlander, The Walking Dead. Before she bagged Ms. Marvel, she worked on various other series, directing one or 2 episodes for the same.
