Who is Jasleen Royal? The popular singer-songwriter is taking the internet by storm with her rendition of an iconic song that has set netizens tapping their feet and swaying to nostalgia, beating all mid-week blues.
She's the voice behind so many audience favourite hits - from her version of the evergreen Din Shagna Da from Phillauri to the soothing Kho Gaye Hum Kahan from Baar Baar Dekho. Jasleen Royal's melodious vocals set to the tunes of tranquil music have carried people, both happy and heartbroken, through many a night.
This time around, she is flooding our timelines and hearts with a collaboration that was fated to be a catchy sensation from the get-go. Tying up with viral composer Yashraj Mukhate (of 'rasode mein kaun tha' fame), Royal has belted out the hit 90s song Rangeela Re from Urmila Matondkar and Aamir Khan-starrer Rangeela.
While Mukhate adds backing vocals to the acapella, Royal fills the shoes of Lata Mangeshkar (who sung the original track) with youthful ease.
The duo apparently hit the bull's eye on their version, winning praise from Rangeela girl Matondkar, as well as from AR Rahman who composed the memorable soundtrack for the Ram Gopal Varma film.
While he retweeted the video on Twitter, Matondkar wrote to Royal, saying, "Wow..lovely!!"
Listen to the song everyone is crazing over:
