"Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours," the statement on Aday's Facebook added. "We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man."

Aday, who amassed global fame with his distinct vocal range and blingy peformances, tied the knot with Gillespie in 2007.

Hailing from Canada, Gillespie was Aday's partner of 14 years. She gave steady company to Aday at public events and shows in the years of their marriage. The duo did not have any children together, reports suggest. Pearl and Amanda Aday are Aday's daughters with his first wife Leslie Edmonds. Both daughters are part of the music and entertainment world.
Aday and Edmonds married in 1979 and divorced in 2001.
