BTS and their management agency Hybe entertainment found themselves amidst controversy since they released the tracklist for their anthology album Proof. Musician Bobby Jeong was part of the team that produced BTS Jimin’s solo song Filter which is part of Proof CD2.
Fans of the band known as ARMY are miffed that BTS decided to include the song and it has sparked a huge outrage amongst the fans of the band asking why they are collaborating with an offender on trial. The flak intensified when they learnt that the songs were handpicked by the band members. Many even decided to boycott the album.
Amidst the controversy, many are curious to know more about Bobby Jeong—who is he and what is the controversy surrounding him.
Who Is Bobby Jeong?
Bobby Jeong was born as Jeong Dae-Wook in South Korea’s largest port city—Busan. The musician has worked on too many songs and also is a member of multiple indie bands.
His band Autumn Vacation debuted in 2009 and before that he was part of a lesser-known collective called Bobby Ville. Bobby was a vocalist and guitarist at the latter band and handled the guitar in his indie-band Autumn Vacation.
Bobby was also part of an indie band Julia Hart where he handled guitar and vocals as well. The group had debuted in 2001.

The musician, before Filter, worked with BTS on other songs as well. Jeong has also worked for another band under Hybe entertainment: Together X Tomorrow.
Since Filter’s release, the singer has been caught in controversy because of the sexual assault allegations. Bobby was accused of assaulting two women at two different accounts and is currently on trial.
A victim died by suicide and after her death, the grieving family approached the court. However, he was acquitted due to a lack of evidence. He was reportedly dating her in 2019. The case was re-opened when another survivor came forth and levelled charges of sexually assaulting her and illegally filming her without her consent. Police found videos and evidence incriminating him on his devices in both cases.
Bobby maintains his stance that he allegedly had obtained consent for the filming but has pleaded guilty on account of sexual assault during the last trial. The third trial will be held at the Seoul Western District Court at 2 pm on May 25.
