Who is Aishwarya Sonar? Aishwarya Sonar has bagged a role in the upcoming Netflix film The Gray Man and has been cast opposite international stars likes of Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.
The Indian actor will be working under the Russo brothers — Anthony Russo and Joseph Russo — known for helming some of the major Marvel films. The spy-thriller, which also features South Indian star Dhanush, is slated for an OTT release.
But who is Aishwarya Sonar?
1. Actor-writer-producer Sonar has been reportedly cast in a comparatively smaller role, however, she feels proud to be a part of the project. An elated Sonar told Times of India, “I have already filmed my part and it was a delight to work with everyone." She went on to praise the Russo brothers, saying they are "beyond generous". She is all set to debut as an actor in Hollywood with this film. The Gray Man is an adaptation of Mark Greaney’s 2009 spy novel of the same name.
2. Sonar is best known for her performance in the 2017 Marathi film Kaay Re Rascalaa, produced by Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Dr Madhu Chopra.
3. She has worked on the 2016 Marathi film Ventilator as an assistant director and been part of many international projects as an actor and producer.
4. Sonar hails from Pune, Maharashtra, who grew up watching American films. She said pursuing performing arts as a career seemed like a distant dream for her so she went on to pursue a BA in Business Administration.
5. Before working as an actor, Sonar has worked as a model as well. She claimed to have bagged the big-budget Hollywood project during the pandemic.
The Gray Man made headlines in India, last year, when it was announced that actor Dhanush was a part of the film. Sonar’s casting makes her the second Indian actor to join the project.
The film also stars Wagner Moura, Jessica Henwick and Julia Butters.
