Virgin River is the story of a nurse practitioner, Mel, who sought a fresh start as she moved from Los Angeles to a town called Virgin River in North California. Meeting ample surprises along her journey, Mel discovers that living in a small town is not as simple as she had expected. Giving herself the time she needed to heal, she tries to make the town of Virgin River her true home. She left painful memories behind to settle there, if her child is not Jack’s, she wonders what it meant for her. When Jack decided to propose to her, she interrupted him with the news of her pregnancy.
According to Alexandra Breckenridge (Mel), there was a sense of connection and intimacy that the characters had on the show which people crave in their own relationships. During the pandemic, we are not experiencing that as much, and so that connection became something people were longing for.
In late November 2021, New Zealand actor, best known for ABC medical drama, Martin Henderson – who plays Jack – gave fans an update on how filming on season four was progressing. He also uploaded a photo of himself on Instagram in which he was in a voiceover recording booth.
