Prithviraj release date has been announced by the lead actor Akshay Kumar via a social media post. In his announcement post, he also unveiled the look of his character as well as his co-stars.
Akshay Kumar began by sharing a motion poster of Sonu Sood, who plays Chand Vardai, and describing him as "daring, sensitive, and wise." After that, Kumar shared the look of Sanjay Dutt, who plays Kaka Kanha, King Prithviraj's faithful accomplice. Later, he shared a motion poster of Manushi Chhillar, the former Miss World, who stars in the film as Princess Sanyogita. In the caption, he wrote that she weaved a tale of 'true love and compassion.' Last but not the least, Akshay Kumar then shared his own look as a fierce warrior king, along with his army of soldiers.
Earlier when the teaser was shared the actor has received a lot of appreciation for his role in Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. "The teaser of 'Prithviraj' encapsulates the soul of the film, the essence of the life of the renowned warrior Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, who knew no fear," Akshay Kumar said in a statement after sharing the film's teaser.
"This is our way of paying honour to his bravery and life. The more I read about him, the more I was awestruck by how he lived and breathed every single second of his glorious life for his country and his principles", he further added.

Many filmmakers' preparations were interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced them to reschedule their films during the third wave of the COVID-19. Prithviraj, starring Akshay Kumar, was one such film that was repeatedly postponed.
Prithviraj was originally scheduled to be released on Diwali, November 13, 2020. The makers were compelled to postpone it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was then scheduled to be release in theatres on January 21, 2022. However, it was announced during the third wave of the pandemic that the release date would be postponed. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, a well known filmmaker who was recently awarded the Padma Shri, directed Prithviraj. The narrative of the film is said to concentrate on Prithviraj's 12th-century fight with Ghurid ruler Muhammad of Ghor.
