The adapted series stars Tim McMullan, Lesley Manville, Daniel Mays, Pippa Haywood, Michael Maloney, and Conleth Hill. Timothy Spall had been cast in the picture, but he dropped out before filming due to personal issues earlier this year.

On Thursday, February 10th, 2022, Magpie Murders premiered on BritBox in the United Kingdom. Lesley Manville stars as Susan Ryeland, an experienced editor who works alongside Conway (Game of Thrones star Conleth Hill) to investigate his murder and the missing end to his Magpie Murders book.

The story is about Susan Ryeland's first novel, Magpie Murders, is the first in the Susan Ryeland series. Susan Ryeland is the editor of Alan Conway(Conleth Hill), a mystery novelist whose protagonist is Atticus Pund.  Season 1 of Magpie Murders follows Susan Ryeland, who can't wait for Conway to finish his manuscript. Susan arrives at Conway's house to obtain the last chapters, only to discover that Conway has died and the final chapters have vanished.

To let the tales fit beside one another and overlap slightly, the TV adaptation makes some minor changes to the framework of the novel. The novel is recounted from Susan's point of view, but the series offers several supporting characters with more screen time, particularly Conway, who opens most of the episodes and is a more regular presence throughout. These additions enrich the series while maintaining its integrity.

According to the critics, it is a well-acted and well-produced series that makes the most of its smart fundamental concept to help it stand out in a crowded field. With a great performance by Lesley Manville and brilliant touches throughout. According to early ratings, Magpie Murders also has a 7.8/10 on IMDb.

The series consists of six episodes, each of which is approximately 45 minutes long. In the United Kingdom, the series is currently airing on BritBox. Meanwhile, it is still unclear which OTT platform will be granted official rights. The series is already released in the UK, but the worldwide release date is yet to be announced by the makers.
