Derry Girls Season 3 Release Date: Derry Girls follows the story of a young girl and her cousin as the two attend a Catholic girls' school during the Troubles of early 1990-Northern Ireland. The Irish comedy-drama show stars Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Louisa Harland, Nicola Coughlan, Jamie-Lee O'Donnell, Dylan Llewellyn, Tara Lynne O'Neill, Kathy Kiera Clarke and Tommy Tiernan among others. The show airs on UK broadcaster Channel 4.
Channel 4 recently released the first look and teaser trailer for Irish show Derry Girls Season 3. The show amassed popularity from its Netflix viewers. The comedy-drama is created and written by Lisa McGee, inspired by her personal experiences of her teen life during the Troubles in the Northern Ireland.
The show had been renewed for Season 3 back in April 2019. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic conditions, the filming had to be pushed further. According to reports, the filming of Derry Girls Season 3 started on October 4, 2021. It is expected that the new season will possibly have six episodes.
Derry Girls season 3 cast will also include Jamie-Lee O'Donnell and Ian McElhinney along with Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Louisa Harland, Nicola Coughlan and others reprising their roles. The third season will return as the final season of the series. The official description for the final episodes reads, "While there's hope in the air that The Troubles may finally be over, their troubles are only just getting started as they get even closer to 'adulthood'."
Creator-writer McGee earlier revealed that the show was always intended to be a three-part series. In a statement to DigitalSpy, she said describe Derry Girls as, "a coming-of-age story; following five ridiculous teenagers as they slowly... very slowly... start to become adults, while around them the place they call home starts to change too and Northern Ireland enters a new more hopeful phase – which was a small, magical window of time."
Derry Girls Season 3 Release Date
There is no official Derry Girls Season 3 release date as of yet. However, Channel 4 released the first look as well as teased its fans with the first trailer for Season 3 on St. Patrick's Day on March 17, 2022. Watch the trailer ">here.
