The much-awaited 'What's Love Got To Do With It' is set to finally release in cinemas in India. The British rom-com film includes an interesting cast and going by the appreciation it has received at international festivals it has premiered in, it sure will serve as a fresh coming-of-age story.
The star cast includes Lily James, Shazad Latif, Emma Thompson, Sajal Aly, Oliver Chris, Asim Chaudhry, Jeff Mirza, Alice Orr-Ewing, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and our very own Shabana Azmi. The film is directed by Shekhar Kapur.

Plot
The protagonist of this film is a documentary filmmaker and compulsive user of dating apps named Zoe. To her unconventional mother Cath's disappointment, swiping right has only produced an endless stream of the wrong men. On the other hand, the solution for Zoe's childhood friend and neighbour Kaz is to follow his parents' lead and choose to have an arranged marriage (or an assisted marriage) with a lovely Pakistani woman. Zoe starts to consider whether she might be able to learn something from a fundamentally different way of finding love as she documents his optimistic journey from London to Lahore to marry a stranger chosen by his parents.
Shabana Azmi took to her social media to announce the release date of What’s Love Got to Do with It? along with the caption, “Releasing in India on 3rd March 2023.” Saba Pataudi commented, “eagerly awaited” on the post. In addition to five Filmfare Awards, the actor has received several national and international honours, including five National Film Awards for Best Actress. In 1998, the Government of India awarded her with the Padma Shri; in 2012 she was awarded the Padma Bhushan. The actor also expressed how much she loved working with Hollywood actor Emma Thompson. Shabana posted a picture of herself with Thompson, and wrote, “Oh The lovely Emma Thompson what a joy it was to work with you.”
The movie made its world premiere at the famous Toronto Film Festival last year on September 10, 2022, where it received two standing ovations. Shabana Azmi, Lily and Sajal attended the premiere and enthralled the audience.
Shabana Azmi is all set to feature alongside Saiyami Kher, Abhishek Bachchan and Angad Bedi in R Balki's upcoming film Ghoomer. The actor, along with Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, will also appear in a prominent role in Karan Johar's directorial, Rocky Aur Rani ki Prem Kahaani.
The film is all set to release in Indian theatres on March 3, 2023.
