What Is Grahan Controversy? Upcoming series Grahan will premiere on the platform from June 24. It is inspired by Satya Vyas' novel Chaurasi. The show presents two interlinked stories in the aftermath of the anti-Sikh riots that took place in 1984.

Actors Pawan Malhotra and Zoya Hussain play an on-screen father-daughter duo in the series and Anshuman Pushkar and Wamiqa Gabbi revive the 80s on screen. The cast also includes Teekam Joshi and Sahidur Rahman in the lead roles. It is produced by Jar Pictures.

The survivor's of the original riots in Delhi and Jharkhand's Bokaro have sent a legal notice to the producer of the show and the head of the OTT platform for allegedly portraying a twisted narrative of the riots to hurt the sentiments of the Sikhs deliberately.

What Is The Grahan Controversy? Here are 10 Things We know

1. The legal notice was sent through the lawyer Harpreet Singh Hora from Delhi. It states that thousands of Sikhs, men, women and children were butchered during the riots. Bokaro faced traumatic bloodshed.

2. The survivors Nipreet Kaur, Satnam Singh Gambhir and Jasmeet Singh have sought an apology. They have further called upon to halt the release of the show.

3. They are of the opinion that the narrative presents the Sikhs to have carried out the act whereas no such evidence has been found in Bokaro till date.

4. A copy of the notice has been sent to the National Minorities Commission, DSGMC Minority Cell and SGPC President.

5. The notice stated that the members of the Sikh community had specifically requested the team to not rake up wounds and rub salt on them.

6. The series allegedly attempts to show a Sikh man involved in looting or setting fire to property which has been disputed.

7. The notice adds that this act of creating a false narrative clearly aims at hurting the sentiments of the Sikhs. This is beyond the tolerance of the clients.

8. Actor Pawan Malhotra said to The New Indian Express that to him, Grahan symbolises an innocent love story, a riveting mystery and a complex web of emotions. But most importantly, it is the search for the truth.

9. Actor Zoya Hassan added that it is an emotional turmoil when an investigation gets too personal. The viewers will see the story unfold from her character Amrita's lens.

10. Hassan further said that the interpersonal dynamics of the characters, the treatment and the nuanced writing makes it different from all other digital shows.
