Rekha danced to several classic Bollywood songs, including Lata Mangeshkar’s Piya Tose Naina Lage Re from the 1965 film Guide, Mohe Panghat Pe from the 1960 classic Mughal-e-Azam, Lag Jaa Gale from Woh Kaun Thi (1964), and Pardesiya Yeh Sach Hai Piya from Mr Natwarlal (1979). Before the event, Rekha had expressed her excitement about performing at IIFA. She spoke about how the event has always been special to her, as it blends art, culture, and love, bringing the magic of Bollywood to international audiences.

She said, "IIFA holds a special place in my heart, representing not just a celebration of Indian cinema but a vibrant fusion of art, culture, and love on a global stage. It feels like home – a beautiful showcase where the magic of Indian cinema truly comes alive, and I've had the privilege of experiencing that magic first-hand over the years."

She shared how the atmosphere in Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island, where the event was held, added to the magic of the occasion. Rekha expressed her joy in being able to contribute to IIFA’s legacy while also looking forward to celebrating more moments with her fans and colleagues.

The three-day celebration of IIFA 2024 began on September 27 with IIFA Utsavam, an event that paid tribute to the southern film industries, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The celebration continued over the next two days, culminating on September 29 with the main awards night, which honoured the best of Indian cinema across all regions.
