Dulquer Salmaan the heartthrob of Malayalam cinema is all set for his latest release Kurup. The film is an adventure drama based on Kerala's most elusive criminal Sukumara Kurup. Planning to Watch Kurup Online? Here is all that you need to know.

The script of the film is written by is K S Aravind, Jithin K Jose and Daniell Sayooj Nair. It is based on the life of Sukumara Kurup, a famous fugitive from the state. Kurup is directed by Srinath Rajendran. Apart from Dulquer Salmaan in the titular role, the film stars Indrajith Sukumaran, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko and others.

The trailer of the film was released on 3rd November. On the same day Salmaan shared a post on Twitter, with the caption, Kurup, India’s longest hunted fugitive. Deranged mastermind? Accidental conman? Find out on 12 November in cinemas worldwide."

Often called “India’s longest wanted fugitive" Kurup is accused of faking his death. He also murdered a person and passed off the corpse as his own. The incident occurred in 1984. Kurup's escape from the cops is a pop culture phenomenon. "I wanted to do a film in the mystery genre. I like to do every film in a different genre. So you will find my second film in an entirely different genre than my first. For the third film, I wanted mystery and what story can tell a mystery better than Kurup's?" director Srinath Rajendran said to The News Minute.

The film is already caught in controversy, earlier this year, the family of Chacko, the man Kurup murders, sent a legal notice to director and actor duo Srinath and Dulquer expressing his concern over the glorification of Kurup's character.

Kurup was first scheduled to release in May 2021 but due to the COVID-19 second wave, the release was deferred. Now the film is scheduled to release in theatres on 12 November 2021. Apart from Malayalam, it will be dubbed into several other South Indian languages and in Hindi. There have been no announcements about the OTT release yet.
