Is Wake Up Sid on the cards? The Internet was buzzing with questions filled with excitement and was left divided when a video of Ayan Mukherji's beloved comfort Bollywood film of 2009, Wake Up Sid, united and was seen shooting together in a video that soon went viral like wildfire.
As nostalgic Bollywood buffs on the internet demanded a sequel to their favourite rom-com where Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor served a breezy and delightful coming-of-age treat of platonic love story chemistry, adulting, ambitions, friendships, and self-discovery, the fans could not keep calm with the video that almost gave Wake Up Sid feels. However, Karan Johar posted a reel giving updates.

Giving the feels of Wake Up Sid as the video speculated Ranbir Kapoor in a casual blue shirt and off-white pants while Konkona Sen was seen in the attire of Aisha, her iconic character from the film with whom many young girls still resonate. The two star leads were also accompanied by Namit Das and Shikha Talsania, who played the parts of Ranbir Kapoor's character Sid's friends.
The video, which was initially posted on Reddit's page dedicated to Bollywood with the caption "Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona shot for something recently, enticed the fans with hopes, as they could barely contain excitement as many Redditors demanded Part 2 of the film, dropping their comments with views.
One Redditor wrote, "Omg, I wouldn't mind a Wake Up Sid Part 2!!! I have always mentioned here how I loved Ranbir-Konkona's chemistry in the movie. So subtle yet real. Eye-lock moments, small gestures, old-school romance, etc. Kjo, Ranbir, Konkona, and Ayan, if you guys frequent this sub, please, please, please make this happen (without adding any Gen Z elements, please keep the vibe as is)."
Another comment read, "It would be nice to see a sequel to Wake Up Sid 15 years later... Could explore so many topics," while many other Redditors threw theories at what the sequel could contain.
Karan Johar Gives Updates:
Soon after the video went viral, filmmaker Karan Johar, under whose banner, Dharma Productions, the film was released, posted a reel on his Instagram account where Ranbir Kapoor can be seen resting on a chair while we can hear Konkona Sen's voice waking up. Kapoor just like Aisha woke up Sid as she called "Sid! Wake up! It's Rishi's day!"
Johar wrote in the caption that he couldn't have woken up with a better piece of news while he put many hashtags in the caption, such as #SidWakseUp, #SiddyBoy, #WUSgang, #WhatsBrewing, #ranbirkapoor, and #ad, which clarified the gig to be just for an advertisement and was not the BTS video from the sets of the film's sequel that the makers tried to hide from the fans.
While Nimit Das, whose character's name in the film was Rishi, commented under the video with "wohooo," another Instagrammer commented, "Don't play with our feelings like that, Karan."
Notably, Konkona Sen Sharma years ago said in an interview that she believes Wake Up Sid should never have a sequel, as for her, the story ended there while she was opining about her theory of how she thinks Sid and Aisha would have grown apart, wouldn't have married, and would have an ideal "happily ever after."
