"Something We Both Have Enjoyed Thoroughly": Virat Kohli On Raising Daughter With Anushka

Virat Kohli Interview about Vamika: Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli shared his experience of being a father to his baby girl Vamika. He said that while a child is primarily dependent on its mother, it also dependent on the father.

Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma welcomed their firstborn on January 11 this year. Since then, it is the first time that Kohli opened up about the newly experienced fatherhood in an interview. While speaking to comedian and content creator Danish Sait ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Kohli said the birth of his daughter has been life-changing.

He said, "Things change quite drastically. Everything you have been used to changes. You have to be totally aligned with taking care of another life that’s totally dependent on the mother primarily, but also dependent on the father. Both parents taking care of the child is a different environment altogether and something that we both (Anushka and him) have enjoyed thoroughly."

Kohli added that his baby girl has made him and his wife Anushka experience something they never had before. "Just to see your child smile, it can’t be put in words. I can’t express how it feels from within. It’s just been such a blessed and amazing period," he said.

Kohli is currently serving as the captain of the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore and for the first time in years, the team made it to the playoffs.

Anushka Sharma had also shared her thoughts on motherhood before when she posted a picture of her family of three on social media. Sharma in the picture's caption said their hearts are " So full" with the happiness that their daughter Vamika has given them. She said, "We have lived together with love, presence and gratitude as a way of life but this little one, Vamika has taken it to a whole new level! Tears, laughter, worry, bliss – emotions that have been experienced in a span of minutes sometimes! Sleep is elusive but our hearts are SO full.”

While Virat Kohli has been busy with IPL matches, Anushka Sharma recently announced her new productional venture in collaboration with Netflix. The teaser of Qala released last week in which Tripti Dimri can be seen playing the lead role along with Irrfan Khan's son Babil Khan who will make his Bollywood debut with the film.
