"Something Chopra": Rosie O'Donnell Apologises To Priyanka Chopra, Here's What Happened

American comic Rosie O' Donnell's rather peculiar interaction with Indian star Priyanka Chopra is the latest thing buzzing on the internet. Donnell, 50, recounted the episode through videos on her Instagram that have got netizens talking. As per her own admission, Donnell thought "something Chopra" is the daughter of author Deepak Chopra.

'Something Chopra' has fans of the actor, singer, entrepreneur shell-shocked, only because she is one of the biggest names from India to hold global influence today. It came as a surprise to O'Donnell that Chopra was in fact, more famous than her husband Nick Jonas.

1. Narrating her meeting with Chopra and Jonas, in a TikTok video posted to Instagram, O'Donnell said the couple was seated next to her table at a restaurant. "Nick Jonas and his wife, someone Chopra," is how the comedian referred to them.

2. She said she always thought Chopra was the daughter of Deepak Chopra, an Indian-American personality known to be a proponent of alternative medicine. Ironically, Chopra's father Dr Ashok Chopra was a doctor in the Indian Army.

3. "So when I said, 'Hi Nick Jonas, you were great in Kingdom, and, 'Hi (Priyanka) I know your dad'. She goes, 'You do? Who's my dad?' And I go, 'Deepak'," O'Donnell said. Chopra went on to clear that hers was a common surname.

4. Adding to the saga in a second video, O'Donnell said that Chopra was not rude, as some people said, but it was just awkward. "She's apparently a very well known actress and more famous than him (Nick) people were saying. So I'm sure it felt weird to her to begin with... Anyway, Priyanka is her name. And I just want to apologise to her and to everyone who thought it was inappropriate of me."

The comedian further, in a separate post, attached a screenshot of Chopra's Instagram profile that declares a following count of 75 million.

5. Chopra and Jonas tied the knot in 2018 and last month welcomed a daughter via surrogate. The couple lives in Los Angeles with Chopra dividing her time between Bollywood and Hollywood.
