A viral video of two Kerala medical students dance has left the internet awed. Set to the tunes of legendary vocal group Boney M's song Rasputin, their clean moves and precise footwork have managed to add some cheer and musical nostalgia to pandemic blues.
The dance features Janaki M Omkumar and Naveen K Razak, third and fourth-year students respectively of Thrissur Medical College, Kerala. First posted to Razak's Instagram account and Omkumar's YouTube channel, the video has now made its way to all other social media platforms too, capturing national attention.

Kerala Medical Students Dance Brings Cheer To Pandemic Blues
Both students are members of the college's dance team 'Vikings' and wanted to partake in the online TikTok Rasputin challenge. Due to the current non-availability of the app in India, they shared their rendition of the dance to other social media.
"This was an impromptu plan... Soon after class hours, we practised for 20 minutes and went for it. It took a total of two hours to come up with the video. The video was filmed by our friend Musthak Ali," they told The New Indian Express.
At over 2 million views on Instagram and 288K views on Twitter, Omkumar and Razak's dance video was even noticed by some big names in the South entertainment industry. Choreographer Prasanna Sujit applauded the duo in the comments, while actor Anarkali Marikar shared their video on her stories.
Looking At Other Dancing Doctors During The Pandemic
The Kerala medical students dance is one of many videos to have brought frontline healthcare workers to the spotlight, outside of their relentless efforts against COVID-19.
Last year on National Doctor’s Day, Dr Richa Negi shared a video dancing to Bollywood song Garmi in a PPE kit. Another Assam doctor shook a leg to Hrithik Roshan's song Ghungroo in a PPE kit, even going on to earn praise from the actor himself.
In another video, health workers in Karnataka danced in a COVID-19 ward to boost the morale of patients. Watch the video below:
