On Monday, September 9, Vikas’ funeral took place in Mumbai, with a gathering of celebrities and family members. A video shared by a paparazzo on Instagram showed Vikas’ mother, Surekha Sethi, breaking down as she saw her son's remains. Celebrities including Hiten Tejwani, Sharad Kelkar, Jaswir Kaur, and Deepak Tijori were present to pay their last respects.

The news of his sudden passing was shared by his family, with a heartfelt note stating, "In loving memory of Vikas Sethi, who left us all on the 8th of September 2024. The final rites will be performed according to Hindu traditions on September 9. Your prayers and support during this time will be deeply appreciated."
Jhanvi also spoke to PTI about the actor’s final moments, sharing that he had been unwell before his sudden passing. The couple was in Nashik attending a family function when Vikas began experiencing vomiting and diarrhoea. Jhanvi said, "After we reached my mother’s house in Nashik, he had vomiting and loose motions. He didn’t want to go to the hospital, so we asked the doctor to come home. When I went to wake him up at around 6 am (on Sunday), he was no more. The doctor there told us he passed away last night in his sleep due to a cardiac arrest. His mortal remains have since been sent to Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem."
Vikas Sethi rose to fame through his roles in several iconic television shows. He was best known for his portrayal of Swayam Shergill in Kahiin To Hoga and Prem Basu in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. He also had a significant role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which cemented his status as a household name in Indian TV during the 2000s.
A lesser-known aspect of Vikas Sethi's career is his appearance in Karan Johar's 2001 blockbuster film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. He played the role of Robbie, a date of Kareena Kapoor’s iconic character, Pooja. Interestingly, the role of Robbie was initially offered to John Abraham before Vikas stepped in to play the part.
In 2021, Vikas underwent surgery on his leg, sharing his recovery journey with his fans on Instagram. He spoke about his determination to return stronger, despite the doctor's recommendation for one and a half months of bed rest. Vikas often posted fitness-related videos, showcasing his progress as he worked towards regaining his strength and staying in shape.
