Talking about her upcoming film, the Dirty Picture actor, in an interview with Times of India, shared that she loves to explore new subjects and characters. "I get bored very easily," she revealed claiming that she has a need to "continuously do different things" and predominantly "explore subjects and characters that have not been tapped, yet". She said she tries to interpret subjects and characters her way and that's what keeps the actor in her excited and raring to go at all times.

In a statement, Vikram Malhotra, the Producer and CEO of Abundantia Entertainment said that the film is one of the most "special" and "important" stories that they have so far worked on. He also mentioned about notable filmmaker Masurkar's "evocative" take on a highly relevant subject that is "laced with his trademark satire" and said that the makers are confident it will make for a compelling watch. Further speaking on the same, producer Bhushan Kumar said that the film has an "unconventional" storyline. Most of the shootings have been done in the jungles of Madhya Pradesh.

In November last year, it was reported that the film's shoot had been halted after she declined a Madhya Pradesh  minister's dinner invitation. MP Forest Minister Vijay Shah however later went on record to clear the air, and said that shoot for the film hadn't been cancelled. "I was there (Balaghat) on request from those who took permission for the shoot and requested me for lunch or dinner. I said not possible now, I will meet them when I go to Maharashtra. Lunch or dinner was cancelled, the shoot was not," he said. Read more about here.

This is Balan’s first project to release in the year 2021. She was last seen in Shakuntala Devi, also released on the same OTT platform last year.
