Vidya Balan has fallen prey to impersonation on social media, prompting her to take legal action against an unidentified individual. The actor filed a complaint with the Khar police after discovering fake email, Instagram, and WhatsApp accounts created in her name. These accounts were allegedly used by the perpetrator to solicit money from individuals in Bollywood by falsely promising work opportunities.
The issue came to light when a designer Vidya Balan had collaborated with received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number in January, purportedly from the actor, expressing interest in working together. The designer promptly alerted Balan about the suspicious message, leading to the discovery of similar fraudulent activities over email and Instagram involving other industry contacts.
Vidya Balan Files Complaint Against Imposter Peddling Fake Bollywood Offers
In response to the complaint, the Khar police have initiated action against the unidentified imposter under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and are conducting further investigations into the matter.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Vidya Balan is gearing up to reprise her iconic role as Manjulika in the upcoming instalment of the hit franchise Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Kartik Aaryan recently confirmed the news by sharing a montage of scenes featuring both him and Vidya Balan from the previous films in the series. The highly anticipated third instalment, which also stars Kiara Advani and Tabu, is slated to commence filming soon.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, released in 2022, proved to be a massive success, grossing over 180 crore in India. The film, headlined by Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, featured a stellar performance by Tabu and also included Rajpal Yadav in its cast. With the stage set for another thrilling chapter in the franchise, fans eagerly await the release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
Furthermore, Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D'Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy have joined forces for their inaugural collaboration. The title and release date were revealed on January 17. In line with Vidya's recent use of emojis, the movie is named Do Aur Do Pyaar. The theatrical release is scheduled for March 29.
