Veteran actor and Kajol's mother, Tanuja, has been reportedly discharged from the hospital's intensive care unit (ICU) as of Monday night, December 18. Tanuja was admitted to a Mumbai hospital on the evening of December 17 due to health issues related to her age. A source informed Press Trust of India that the 80-year-old actor is currently in the ICU at a hospital in Juhu.
PTI reported a source saying, "She was discharged from the hospital late last night as all her health parameters were normal." Earlier PTI's report said, "She is under observation. She is doing well. There's nothing to worry about.” Currently, no official statement has been released by her family or representatives.
Veteran Actor Tanuja Discharged From ICU
Tanuja, a well-known actor, has appeared in numerous Hindi and Bengali films. She is the daughter of former star Shobhna Samarth and producer Kumarsen Samarth. Throughout her career, she has portrayed memorable characters in films such as Baharein Phir Bhi Ayengi, Jewel Thief, Haathi Mere Saathi, and Mere Jeevan Sathi, among others. Tanuja's most recent appearance was in Modern Love Mumbai.
The accomplished actor celebrated her 80th birthday in September. Daughters Kajol, Tanisha, and son-in-law Ajay Devgn expressed their heartfelt wishes on social media. Kajol penned a touching message, saying, "Happy eightieth birthday, mom. Eight decades of love, wisdom, and laughter! Happy Birthday to my incredible Mom!"
Tanisha, in her message, shared, "Happy birthday my Maaaaa! My warrior my devi! The one who showed me that age is just a number and that life is for living on ur own terms ! Here are just a few images that show the many colours that make u You! Generous loving and always ready to take care of everyone!!! Love uuu my earth mother."
Recently, in an interview with Film Companion, Kajol confessed feeling emotional while watching Tanuja's poignant scenes in films. She expressed difficulty in separating her own emotions from her mother's on-screen presence.
She said, "I have not watched too many of my mother’s films. I feel so much for her that I’m never able to separate myself from her. And when she cries on screen, I just sit and bawl. So I have no objectivity where she’s concerned. She just makes me howl."
