Kumkum Bhagya Fame Veteran Actor Asha Sharma Passes Away At 88

Veteran actor Asha Sharma, known for her memorable roles in popular television shows and films, has passed away at the age of 88. The Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) confirmed the news on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, expressing condolences on the loss of the beloved actor.

In their post, CINTAA wrote, “#cintaa expresses its condolences on the demise of Asha Sharma.” The cause of her death has not been disclosed.

Asha Sharma was widely recognised for her portrayals of grandmotherly and maternal figures in various television serials and Bollywood films. She most recently appeared in the mythological drama Adipurush, where she played the role of Shabari alongside Prabhas and Kriti Sanon. 

Her career spanned decades, with notable performances in films like Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. She was also remembered for her role in Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s film Do Dishayen, where she starred alongside Prem Chopra, Aruna Irani, and Nirupa Roy.

Sharma's contributions to Indian television were equally impactful. She was a familiar face in several beloved TV shows, including Kumkum Bhagya, Mann Ki Awaz Pratigya, and Ek Aur Mahabharat. Her warm and affectionate screen presence made her a favourite among viewers, especially in her role as a grandmother in Kumkum Bhagya. 

Pooja Gor, who worked with Asha Sharma in Pratigya, expressed her sorrow over the actress’s passing. Speaking to Times Now, Gor shared, "She was a wonderful person and a great human being. She would always shower a lot of love and blessings on us. She played the role of my grandmother in the show. After the show, I unfortunately met her only once. May her beautiful soul rest in peace."

As of now, details regarding the cause of Asha Sharma’s death, as well as information about her last rites and prayer meeting, have not been released. The industry and her fans continue to mourn the loss of a talented actor who brought warmth and grace to every role she played.
