Upcoming mythological films: From the Ramayana to the Mahabharatha, and from Ashwarthama to Shakuntala, the Indian film industry has a long list of mythological films in the works. These upcoming mythological films are not only high-budget productions that have taken years to complete, but they have also generated a lot of buzz before their release, with fans eagerly anticipating their release.
Raavan and Raajneeti, for example, were both set to be films based on Indian mythology. Raavan, on the one hand, was a film that followed the essence of the Ramayana, but with its own changed storyline. Raajneeti, on the other hand, adapted events and characters from the Mahabharata. Both films were produced on a huge scale and starred an impressive ensemble, and were released in 2010. These adaptations were the only myths present, although the film fell well short of the original narratives.
Since the tremendous success of reruns of "Ramayana" and "Mahabharata" during the early days of the pandemic, filmmakers have begun to greenlight projects based on mythology. The most recent mythological film to fare well at the box office was RRR, starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan. With its dramatic mythological climax, RRR transported us back in time, with actor Ram Charan appearing as Lord Ram's avatar.
Here's a list of upcoming mythological films:
Brahmastra Part One: Shiva
The film will be the first in a trilogy. The film appears to be split into two timelines. The main tale takes place in modern times, and it follows Shiva, a young man with abilities, as he goes 3000 years back in time to the pre-Mahabharatha era to learn about weapons such as the Brahmastra in order to complete a task in the present. Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Mouni Roy, and Shah Rukh Khan (in a rumoured cameo part) feature in the film.
The filming began in 2017-2018, and it will be released on September 9, 2022, in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
