From Adipurush To Brahmastra, 21 Upcoming Big Budget Bollywood Films In 2022

During the outbreak, the cinema suffered heavily, yet, as soon as the theatres opened, there were some films that drew a large audience and others that struggled. Last year's releases, such as Pushpa: The Rise, and more recent releases, such as Gangubai Kathiawadi, Valimai, Bheemla Nayak, RRR, and The Kashmir Files, Radhe Shyam, have confirmed that the theatre business is on the mend after nearly two years of being ravaged by the COVID-19 crisis.

In the months ahead of 2022, there will be a slew of mainstream Bollywood blockbusters starring well-known stars. Along with that, some of the most anticipated films of this year will be released, including Brahmastra, Shamshera, Prithviraj, Vikram Vedha, and Adipurush, one of India's most expensive films. Apart from these, in August, the most anticipated film of the year, Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan, will be released.

Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway

The film Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, starring Rani Mukerji, is based on true events of an Indian mother's fight against a whole country. The film will be produced by Zee Studios and Emmay Entertainment and will be directed by Ashima Chibber, with Rani Mukherji playing the major role. The film was supposed to be out in May, but nothing has been announced.

Anek

Anek is a political action thriller film written and directed by Anubhav Sinha, who also co-produced it with T-Series. It stars Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role. The film also stars J.D. Chakravarthy, Andrea Kevichüsa, Manoj Pahwa, and Kumud Mishra. It is set in North East India and revolves around an undercover cop on a quest to restore peace in the region. On May 27, 2022, the film will be released in theatres all around the world.

Maidaan

Maidaan is a forthcoming Indian Hindi-language biographical sports film starring Ajay Devgn as football coach Syed Abdul Rahim during the golden era of Indian football (1952–1962). Amit Sharma directed Maidaan, which Zee Studios produced in association with Bayview Projects LLP. The film will be released in theatres globally on June 3, 2022.

Prithviraj

Prithviraj is a historical action drama film starring Akshay Kumar as Prithviraj Chauhan and Manushi Chhillar as Sanyogita in her Hindi cinema debut. Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Manav Vij, Ashutosh Rana, and Sakshi Tanwar play major roles in the film. Chandraprakash Dwivedi directed the film, which was produced by Yash Raj Films. It will be released on June 3, 2022.

Mission Majnu

Mission Majnu is an upcoming Hindi-language spy thriller film starring Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna. It is described as "India's greatest covert operation."Rashmika Mandanna makes her Hindi film debut in this flick. The film will be released in theatres on June 10, 2022.

Govinda Naam Mera

Vicky Kaushal plays Govinda  in the upcoming film Govinda Naam Mera. The film is about a man, Govinda Waghmare, who is played by Vicky Kaushal, and the film also features Bhumi Pednekar as his wife, Mrs. Waghmare, and Kiara Advani as his girlfriend. Dharma Productions Pvt. Ltd. is in charge of the film's production. It will be released in theatres on June 10, 2022.

Janhit Mein Jaari

Janhit Mein Jaari, featuring Nushrratt Bharuccha, will spark a conversation about condoms, another taboo topic in India. The movie will not show a woman risking stares to ask for a box of condoms, but will instead show a girl selling them to the general population. In addition to Bharuccha Pavail Gulati, Annu Kapoor, and Anud Dhaka will have major roles in Omung Kumar's film. The movie will be released on June 10.

Doctor G

Doctor G is an upcoming social drama film produced by Junglee Pictures and directed by Anubhuti Kashyap. Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh play the key roles in the film. Shefali Shah and Sheeba Chaddha will play supporting roles in the film. There is no additional information regarding the film's plot. It is set to be released on June 17, 2022.

Nikamma

In the action comedy flick Nikamma, Abhimanyu Dassani, Shirley Setia, and Shilpa Shetty star. Sabbir Khan directed it, and Shabbir Khan Films and Sony Pictures India produced it. The film is a remake of the Telugu film Middle Class Abbayi, which was released in 2017. Nikamma is set to be launched on June 17, 2022.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo

Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Kiara Advani feature opposite Prajakta Koli and Manish Paul in the upcoming comedy-drama Jug Jugg Jeeyo. Raj Mehta directed it, and Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta produced it.  The film will be released on June 24, 2022.

Ek Villain Returns

Ek Villain Returns is an upcoming romantic action thriller film. The film is a sequel to the 2014 hit film Ek Villain, but the plot is completely different. In Ek Villain Returns, John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria play the key roles in Ek Villain Returns. On July 29, 2022, the film will be released in theatres all around the world.

Shabaash Mithu

Shabaash Mithu is a biographical sports drama film in the works. The film is based on the life of Mithali Raj, the current Test and ODI captain of India's women's cricket team, who will be played by Taapsee Pannu. It details Mithali's ups and downs as well as her triumphs. The film will be released on July 15, 2022.

Shamshera

Shamshera is an upcoming period action drama film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Vaani Kapoor as the titular anti-hero. Shamshera, a big-budget historical drama about dacoits, will be released in Tamil and Telugu concurrently. Aditya Chopra produced the film through Yash Raj Films. Karan Malhotra directed the film. A release date of July 22, 2022 was confirmed in February of 2022.

Laal Singh Chaddha

Laal Singh Chaddha is an upcoming comedy-drama film starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Naga Chaitanya as the titular characters. Advait Chandan directed it, and Eric Roth and Atul Kulkarni wrote the screenplay. Aamir Khan Productions, Viacom18 Studios, and Paramount Pictures are collaborating on the project. The film will be released in theatres on August 11, 2022.

Adipurush

Adipurush is a legendary Hindu film based on the Ramayana epic. In the film, Prabhas plays Raghava, Kriti Sanon plays Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan plays Lankesh in the film. Adipurush is one of the most costly Indian films ever made, with a budget of 500 crores. On January 12, 2023, the film will be released in theatres in Hindi and Telugu, as well as dubbed versions in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Liger

Liger is an upcoming Indian sports action film starring Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday, Ronit Roy, and Ramya Krishna as kickboxers. Karan Johar, Puri Jagannadh, and Charmme Kaur produced the film, which was shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi. Liger represents Deverakonda's Hindi film debut, as well as Panday's Telugu film debut. Liger will be released in theatres on August 25, 2022.

Brahmastra

Brahmstra Part One: Shiva is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language fantasy adventure film written and directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar. Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni are among the cast members. The movie is supposed to be the first in a planned trilogy. On September 9, 2022, it will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Vikram Vedha

Saif Ali Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf, and Yogita Bihani feature in the upcoming neo-noir action-thriller Vikram Vedha. It's a remake of the same-named Tamil film by the same directors from 2017. YNOT Studios and Plan C Studios produced the film, which was directed by Pushkar–Gayathri. On September 30, 2022, the film will be released theatrically.

Ram Setu

Ram Setu is a new movie in which an archaeologist attempts to ascertain whether the Ram Setu bridge is a fiction or a reality. Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Nushratt Bharuccha play pivotal parts in the film. Kumar revealed in September that the film would be released on Diwali in 2022. As a result, the release date is set for October 24.

Bhediya

Bhediya is an upcoming comedic horror film starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, with Janhvi Kapoor and Flora Saini repeating their roles from Roohi and Stree, respectively. Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe continues with the third instalment. The film will be released in theatres globally on November 25, 2022.

Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali

The story revolves around three brothers, with the two younger siblings being forced to wait until their older brother becomes engaged before marrying. Salman Khan, Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh Daggubati, and Shehnaaz Gill, who will be making her Bollywood debut with Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali, appear in the film. Farhad Samji directed the film, which will be released on December 30.
