Trishala Dutt's 'Grief 101 Lesson' For Instagram User Asking Her About Boyfriend's Death

Trishala Dutt on boyfriend's death: Trishala Dutt is known for her candour on social media. The young Instagram star regularly addresses complex subjects like mental health, therapy, relationships on her account and responds to fan questions. On Tuesday, when a follower asked her the reasons behind an old boyfriend's death, Dutt replied to the curiosity with composure, without losing her calm.

Dutt has been vocal about how her Italian boyfriend's demise in 2019 affected her mental health and often shares tributes to him on Instagram through posts and photos. She has chosen not to disclose his name on social media.

On that topic, an Instagram user wrote to her, "Sorry to ask this but why haven't you disclosed how your boyfriend passed away? What's his name?"

With poise, Dutt schooled them on lessons in grief and how it was an "inappropriate reaction" to ask details behind someone's demise. "I appreciate your question. I do. Let's all be honest about basic human behavior and curiosity - Its natural to want to know how someone passed away. Even if it is 'none of your business,' right?"

"The most inappropriate reaction is enquiring about the cause of death," she said.

Trishala Dutt On Boyfriend's Death Questions: Stop Asking

Dutt added, "I want you to ask yourself this question - What is the purpose of me doing/ asking this? Will knowing the answer allow me to help this person. Or is it just morbid curiosity?"

She ended saying, "Grief 101 lesson- 'If you are not entitled to know the specifics of the passing, stop asking. Asking for those details does nothing for the conversation. It does not console the person, nor brings the person who passed away, back."

Dutt had in 2019 shared this image of her former partner on Instagram, writing, "My heart is broken. Thank you for loving me... You have made me the happiest I’ve ever been to... I love you & I will miss you. Until we meet again. Forever yours, xo your Bella Mia #RIP October 07, 1986 – July 02, 2019. I love you more today than yesterday but not as much as tomorrow."

A year later, talking about the effect his death had on her, she shared, "Today marks 1 year since the ground beneath me seemed to crumble and my life changed. I’ve done a lot of grief work—from talk therapy, to joining specific support groups & being more intentional with how & who I spend my time with."

Trishala Dutt is the eldest daughter of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt and his late first wife Richa Sharma. Dutt is currently based in the United States with her grandparents.
