Tamil Nadu government asked the Broadcast and Information Minister Prakash Javadekar to ban The Family Man Season 2, a web series, across the country.
The Family Man Season 2 has landed in a soup even before releasing it on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. The government of Tamil Nadu wrote a letter to Minister Prakash Javadekar requesting to ban the show as it depicts the 'Tamils in a highly objectionable manner'.
A section of the letter read, "I would like to bring to your notice about the condemnable, inappropriate and malicious contents of The Family Man 2 serial in Hindi, which depicts the Eelam Tamils in a highly objectionable manner." Further, the letter stated that the trailer of the Family Man Season 2 which was released on the social media network is aimed at discrediting and distorting the historical struggle of Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The government also claimed that the casting of the Tamil actor Samantha Akkineni in the role of a terrorist was also implying objectionable content. The letter also gave an example of branding Tamil-speaking actress Samantha as a terrorist in the serial and said that it is directly an attack on the pride of Tamils living around the world. The letter also added that no one will tolerate this kind of motivated and mischievous campaign.
