What Is Hotstar's Upcoming Spy-Thriller Show 'The Night Manager' About?

2023 brings a plethora of OTT shows across platforms that not just feature some of our favourite actors but also highlight some noteworthy subjects. One of these most anticipated OTT shows this year is 'The Night Manager'.

The Night Manager, an Indian adaptation of the British television series of the same name, is a spy-thriller. It explores a dangerous plot where the lives of an arms dealer and hotel manager get intertwined.

The series features a multi-starrer cast including Anil Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala, Tillotama Shome, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Ravi Behl and Arista Singh Mehta among others.

The Night Manager release date

Coming together on-screen for the first time, actors Aditya Roy Kapoor and Anil Kapoor took to their Instagram to share an update about the upcoming show. Sharing the motion poster, Kapur wrote, "Duniya ke sabse dangerous arms dealer ko rokne ke liye there is only one weapon - Ek hotel ka night manager."

Exclusively shot in Sri Lanka, the show is directed by Sandeep Modi. Modi is known for directing the popular award-winning film, Neerja. The Night Manager is an Indian adaptation of a British television series of the same title. The British show first aired in 2016 and featured Hugh Laurie, Tom Hiddleston, Elizabeth Debicki, Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander and David Harewood in pivotal roles.

The plot

Directed by Susanne Bier, the show explored a story of an ex-soldier who is hired by an intelligence officer for an operation, where he is expected to infiltrate the inner circle of a dangerous arms dealer. The show won several accolades including three Golden Globe Awards.

The British show was based on the book of the same title, written by John le Carré in 1993. 

Aditya Roy Kapur was last seen in OM, while Anil Kapoor featured in the critically-acclaimed Netflix's Thar. Sobhita Dhulipala is all set to star in the much-awaited Made In Heaven Season 2. She was last seen in 2022's Major. Tillotama Shome garnered great praise for her role as a protagonist in Netflix's Delhi Crime Season 2. It will also be interesting to see Ravi Behl in the show given his popularity from the Boogie Woogie days.

The Night Manager release date is yet to be announced. The Indian adaptation series will soon stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
