The film, The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, has received a lot of positive feedback from all over India. In four states, the film, which was released last Friday (March 11), has been certified tax-free. The film has been exempted from paying entertainment tax in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Haryana.
The statement was made on social media over the weekend by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Despite competition from Prabhas' starrer Radhe Shyam and the continuous success of Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi, The Kashmir Files has managed to surprise everyone by emerging as a big hit, collecting Rs. 27.15 crore in its first weekend.

- Brahma Dutt, an IAS official, is played by Mithun Chakraborty, while Pushkar Nath Pandit is played by Anupam Kher, Krishna Pandit is played by Darshan Kumar, and Radhika Menon is played by Pallavi Joshi.
- Kher, who was born into a Kashmiri Pandit family, plays a victim of the 1990 tragedy. Kher's character, Pushkar Nath Kher, is named same as his father, Pushkar Nath Kher.

- The Kashmir Files shed light on the 1990s Kashmiri Pandit exodus, which resulted in the forced flight of thousands of Hindus from the valley.
- The film is based on the testimonies of people who have been traumatised by the insurgency in the state for generations. It also attempts to portray the tragic exodus as a full-scale genocide, relating to the Holocaust, that was kept hidden from the rest of India by the media, the "intellectual" lobby, and the government of the day for their own vested interests.
- The film was originally scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 26, 2022, to coincide with India's Republic Day, but was delayed due to the Omicron variant spread, and was finally released on March 11, 2022.
- On Twitter, users have also shared "evidence" that the scenarios shown in the film are based on true events. For the same, they've posted old newspaper clippings, news pieces, and videos. Some have attempted to draw a link between the characters on screen and those in real life.
- Meanwhile, on his Twitter account, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has also posted several videos of audience reactions, in which people may be seen crying after leaving the theatre.
