The film focuses on the story of a young student who gets influenced by his college professor and ignores the past of the Kashmir and its residents unless he is made to face the harsh reality. Anupam Kher plays the role of Pushkar Nath Pandit, a Kashmiri Pandit who was left homeless along with his family during the 1989 exodus and mass killings.
The movie gives flashbacks of the 1989 massacre along with the perspective of the youth, represented by Darshan Kumar who plays Krishna Pandit. Pallavi Joshi plays the role of Professor Radhika Menon of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) who influenced the students, including Krishna, by making statements on India and Kashmir relations and incidents.
