It is also an adaption of the Hollywood film of the same name starring Emily Blunt. The film stars Parineeti Chopra as Meera, an alcoholic with memory loss who becomes the main suspect in a murder investigation. It co-starts Kirti Kulhari and Aditi Rao Hydari.
The Girl on the Train is Paula Hawkins debut novel and it remained in the top position on The New York Times Fiction Best Sellers of 2015 for 13 consecutive weeks. Less than two months after the release, the novel sold over a million copies. The book was compared to Gone Girl, the novel by Gillian Flynn due to the fact that both books used unreliable narrators to tell the story.
