Actor Erin Doherty will be joining the cast of the six-part BBC series Chloe. Amazon Studios had announced it would be co-producing the psychological thriller.
The series Chloe was announced by BBC in February 2020 and is created and written by Alice Seabright, known for directing the Netflix series Sex Education. The series Chloe is produced by Mam Tor Productions and run by Cuba Pictures former cofounder Tally Garner. Erin Doherty, known for her role as Princess Anne in The Crown will play the leading role of Becky.
The series will centre on Doherty’s character Becky, who becomes obsessed with the death of her estranged friend Chloe. In order to infiltrate the lives of Chloe’s friends, she assumes a new identity to piece together what transpired. Using her alter-ego of “Sasha”, Becky becomes a well-connected and popular person with a life she finds more exciting than her old life. As the pretence continues and distorts reality, Becky risks losing herself completely.
When speaking about the lead character, writer and creator Seabright stated that “Becky is a complex, courageous heroine and there is no one better to play her than Erin.”
Erin Doherty is joined in the cast by actors Billy Howle, Pippa Bennet-Warner, Jack Farthing, Poppy Gilbert, Akshay Khanna, Brandon Micheal Hall, and Alexander Eliot.
Lead actor Erin Doherty made her debut on television when she appeared in an episode of the series Call the Midwife in 2016. Her next role was in the BCC miniseries Les Misérables in 2018. Doherty’s most notable role is her role of Princess Anne in the third and fourth season of The Crown. Her upcoming projects include the series Chloe along with the Netflix thriller film Rebel Ridge. The cast of Rebel Ridge consists of John Boyega, Don Johnson, James Badge Dale, AnnaSophia Robb, Emory Cohen, and Zsane Jhe.
