Actor Sonali Bendre returned to the screen after a nine-year absence with the release of The Broken News. Bendre took her first step into the world of OTT with this show. In addition to her, the series has Jaideep Ahlawat and Shriya Pilgaonkar in key roles. This fictional drama follows a dynamic group of journalists as they traverse the lives and problems of two rival news networks, adapted from acclaimed writer Mike Bartlett's BBC Studios' Press.
The series premiered today and is about the conflict between two media channels Awaaz Bharti, headed by Amina Qureshi (Sonali Bendre) and Josh 24x7, headed by Deepankar Sanyal (Jaideep Ahlawat). The former is a more upright, sober station that nonetheless values journalistic ethics and objectivity, whereas the latter is the country's most popular news channel solely because of its yellow journalism tactics. The plot chronicles the battle between the two networks' journalists as they try to uncover a massive conspiracy that is brewing right beneath their eyes.
The series also stars Indraneil Sengupta, Taaruk Raina, Aakash Khurana, and Kiran Kumar. The Broken News is written by Mike Bartlett and Sambit Mishra and directed by Vinay Waikul.
