The Archies Zoya Akhtar film release date is expected soon as the pictures from the set of the upcoming film went viral recently. There have been pictures on the internet of the cast allegedly gathered for their look test for Akhtar's upcoming project.
Zoya Akhtar will be helming the Bollywood adaptation of the popular Archie Comics and the Riverdale chronicles. The film will be featuring Bollywood's popular star kids namely Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor and Suhana Khan in lead characters of the comics Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge respectively in the film titled The Archies. The film was announced back in November 2021 and Zoya seemed really excited to bring the popular teenage characters from her childhood on screen.
What We Know About The Archies Zoya Akhtar Film Release Date?
Zoya Akhtar and Netflix announced The Archies in November 2021 with the desi version of the popular American comics. The Bollywood adaptation will reportedly be a coming-of-age live action musical that will be set in the India of the 1960's era and will feature the same characters as in the original comics, that is, Veronica Lodge, Betty Cooper, Archie Andrews and Jughead Jones.
Recently pictures from the sets of the film went viral on the internet that featured the cast Agastya, Suhana and Khushi along with Navya Naveli Nanda, Shweta Nanda and Zoya Akhtar. The cast was seen dressed up as the characters that they will be playing in the teenage drama. The pictures allegedly also featured Vedang Raina who is speculated to play Jughead's character. This role was previously linked with Ibrahim Ali Khan but it seems like it was passed to Vedang.
Archie's character first appeared in Pep Comic 22 published in December 1941 and was later given his own separate comic because of its popularity. There have been many adaptations on the popular comics featuring the teenagers from the town of Riverdale including Life With Archie (1962), Archie (1964), Archie : To Riverdale And Back Again(1990) and the most recent one being the popular Netflix American series Riverdale starring Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart, KJ Apa and Cole Sprouse.
The film will be produced by Tiger Baby Films and Graphic India. The release date for the film has not been officially released yet but the pictures from the look test for the film suggest that the production and shoot are under process and that we can expect the Indian adaptation to release on Netflix in 2023. However, nothing sure can be said about the schedule.
