Thalaivi Theatre Release Date: Late J.Jayalalithaa biopic starring Kangana Ranaut, Thalaivi, is all set to release in theatres on September 10, 2021. The film has been directed by AL Vijay with Ranaut in lead role and Arvind Swami playing the role of AIADMK leader MGR.
Even after completing the shooting and post production of the film, the makers were not able to release it in theatres due to the COVID-19 restrictions in the country. Earlier the film's release date was set to be April 23 but it delayed before the second wave of coronavirus.
The film will essay the story of late actor and one of the most worshipped politicians, Jayalalithaa. Thalaivi has received U certificate from the film authorities, it will release in three languages Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. The film has been produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh. GV Kumar has composed the music in the film.
After the release in April got delayed there were speculations about the film releasing OTT platforms. Ranaut came out with a clarification and denied the OTT release rumours. She said that people are spreading 'fake propaganda' about her film and urged the fans to ignore it.
The clarification added,"Announcement – Thalaivi digital rights are with Amazon (Tamil) and Netflix (Hindi) none of them can individually stream the movie before theatres release."
Thalaivi also got involved in legal matter when late Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister's niece J Deepa filed a petition in court asking for a ban on the film. Her plea was rejected by Madras High Court. Deepa's plea had argued that the film's director, AL Vijay, will breach her late aunt's privacy and will portray her in bad light. Read more
