The Telugu film Narappa is all set to make its premiere on the OTT platform. Releasing on July 20, the action-drama is a remake of the Tamil film Asuran, for which actor Dhanush won the National Award for the Best Actor.
Originally slated for release during Eid in theatres this May, the film will skip the wait for theatres and will premiere on Prime Video.
The film is directed by Srikanth Addala and is jointly produced by D. Suresh Babu and Kalaippuli S. The writer of the film is Vetrimaaran, who directed Asuran, the Tamil film Narappa is based on. Vijay Subramaniam, the director and head of content at Amazon Prime Video India, said that they are excited to push the envelope further and add another thrilling action-drama to the diverse audience with the global premiere of the film slate of Telugu films on the platform.
The film revolves around the life of a common man and his sacrifices for his family in a world full of chaos and uncertainty. Narappa follows a farmer hailing from a quaint village in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, similar to Asuran. The producer of the film Suresh Babu said that it was an extremely stimulating and enriching experience to work with the cast of the film and the highly creative crew. Talking about the story of the film, he added that it is close to his heart and narrates a social commentary on the system as a whole and Narappa is their attempt to breathe life into the story.
He further added that he is honoured to work with the global platform which will help them reach a gamut of audiences who will appreciate the action-packed film.
Cast Of Narappa
The film stars Venkatesh Daggubati, Priyamani, and Karthik Rathnam in the main roles. The supporting cast of the film consists of Rajsekhar Aningi, Rao Ramesh, Rajeev Kanakala, and Deepak Shetty.
