Through OTT platforms or local channels broadcasting international shows, audiences in the subcontinent have gained access to quality content from around the world. But equally beautiful are the reconstructed adaptations that are set in the Indian landscape. From Vishal Bhardwaj’s adaptations of William Shakespeare’s works to shows like The Broken News being loosely based on international shows like Newsroom, we have definitely had a great deal of content to binge on.
Now SonyLiv has announced a new series Tanaav which is an Indian adaptation of the Israeli series Fauda. Directed by Sudhir Mishra, the show will retell the story of conflict and struggle but in the Indian context.
Fauda’s Indian adaptation was announced back in 2019 by the production hose Applause Entertainment who also adapted shows like Criminal Justice, Hostages, The Office and Mind the Malhotras.
Co-directed by Sachin Mamta Krishn, the show will be set against the backdrop of Kashmir in 2017. It will focus on the story of a Special Covert Operations Unit and its journey. The show will reportedly deal with complex emotions and flawed characters who experience the same emotions of love, loss, betrayal and revenge but express them differently. The socio-political action drama is touted to have a family at its core.

The show which will be released online soon was shot extensively in Kashmir for over 100 days and in real locations. The plot of the show will unfold through 12 episodes.
