As the Tamil audience revels in the success of Maniratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 2, the fun ride isn’t over for movie buffs. Given that it’s summer vacation, the film industry is gearing up with a good number of much-awaited releases this May 2023.

From Vijay Antony’s long-anticipated Pichaikkaran 2 to Aishwarya Rajesh’s Farhana, Tamil cinema audiences are in for a visual treat of all genres this summer.

Tamil Movie Releases May 2023

Farhana

Aishwarya Rajesh starrer Farhana is directed by Monster fame Nelson Venkatesan. The cast of the film includes Selvaraghavan, Jithan Ramesh, Anumol, Aishwarya Dutta, and Kitty. SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabu are bankrolling the film under their Dream Warrior Pictures company. As per the ">trailer, Farhana narrates the story of a middle-class woman who works at a call centre due to a financial crisis. Her job gives her the freedom to explore, but it also gets her entangled in a web of dancers. The movie is set to be released on May 12, 2023.

Pizza 3

The long-awaited third instalment of the Pizza series features Ashwin Kakumanu. Pavithrah Marimuthu, Gaurav Narayan, and Abhishek Shankar are cast in lead roles, while Kaali Venkat and Anupama Kumar play supporting characters. Pizza 3 is directed by debutant director Mohan Govind and produced by CV Kumar under Thirukumaran Entertainment. The horror film narrates the story of the mysterious happenings at a restaurant. The film will hit theatres on May 12, 2023.

Raavana Kottam

Shanthanu’s Raavana Kottam features Kayal Anandhi as the female lead. The film is directed by Vikram Sugumaran and bankrolled by Kannan Ravi. Actors Prabhu, Illavarasu, Deepa Shankar, Aruldoss, and PL Thennappan are cast in supporting roles. Raavana Kottam features Shantanu Bhagiyaraj as a kabaddi player. Pichaikkaran 2

The long-awaited sequel to the 2016 movie Pichaikkaran is ready to hit theatres this summer. Actor-composer Vijay Antony, who plays the lead in the film, is making his directorial debut. The cast also includes Ritika Singh, Kavya Thapar, Joh Vijay, Dev Gill, and Hareesh Paredi. The plot revolves around a businessman named Vijay Gurumoorthy, who is killed by Sathya (Vijay Antony). Krithi Shetty, Priyamani, Arvind Swamy, Sarathkumar, and Sampath Raj. The plot revolves around Shiva, a police constable assigned to produce a gangster named Raju, alias Raazu, in court. When Raazu’s rivals attempt to kill him, Shiva and his girlfriend Revathi have no other option but to protect Raazu for 48 hours. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on May 12, 2023.
