Actors 'Tortured’ On Set, Reveals Taarak Mehta Star Monika Bhadoriya

A former actor Monika Bhadoriya disclosed some shocking news about the makers of the Tv show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC). Monika Bhadoriya who played the role of Bawri in the popular sitcom TMKOC reveals how she was asked to lose weight saying "You look pregnant." 

After Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal's (Mrs. Roshan Sodhi) allegations of sexual harassment against the producer Asit Modi, now another actor from the show opened up about the ill-treatment by the makers of the show TMKOC. Monika Bhadoriya played the role of Bawri in the show Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Her character was a love interest of Bagga (another character in the show).

Other cast members of the show like Disha Vakani (Daya Gada), Neha Mehta (Anjali Mehta), Shailesh Lodha (Taarak Mehta), and Priya Ahuja (Rita Reporter) had also spoken up against the producers. And now Monika describes the working environment as "toxic".

Monika Bhadoriya on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah: 

Giving a detailed account, Bhadoriya revealed how she was forced to lose weight just in 20 days. She brought up the name of the show's project head Sohil Ramani. She quoted Ramani- "Look at you it seems you are pregnant. I called the production people asking if you are pregnant and they told me you are not even married yet."

She described Ramani asking her to lose weight in 20 days, to which she straight away said no and told him how impossible it is to lose weight in such a short period of time. However, she was threatened that if she doesn't lose her weight in 20 days they won't call her for shoots. When she asked to at least pay her to hire professionals to help her lose weight Ramani straight away refused to pay saying "It's not their lookout for how you lose weight."

She described her horrific weight reduction journey in which she fell severely ill and often fainted on sets. Also suffered from a vitamin B12 deficiency and couldn't see properly. And even got admitted to the hospital and took every day injections.  She said, "It was a painful phase." Bhadoriya claims that she was made to lose weight just to "torture" her as she was never called even after losing weight. 

TMKOC is the most popular Indian sitcom inspired by the column "Duniya Ne Undha Chashma" by columnist Taarak Mehta in the magazine Chitralekha. The show is produced by Asit Kumar Modi and Neela Productions and won Guinness World Record for being the longest-running Indian sitcom. The show started in 2008 and filmed its last episode in 2022.
