Taapsee Pannu who recently tied the knot with longtime beau and badminton player Mathias Boe in Udaipur in March, shared intriguing details about her wedding in a recent interview with HT City. The  actor revealed her unconventional choice of attire and the inspiration behind her wedding looks.

Pannu opted for a traditional salwar kameez and juttis instead of the popular lehenga for her wedding day. She explained her choice, saying, "I’ve grown up seeing Sikh, Gurudwara weddings, so for me, the vintage idea, the classic idea of getting married was always in a proper red salwar kameez paired with a dupatta with kinari on the border." Pannu emphasised that this traditional attire symbolised a real wedding vibe for her, unlike the pastel-hued lehengas trending in recent times.

On her wedding day, Pannu adorned a traditional Punjabi saggi phull (hair accessory) along with light jewellery passed down from her grandmother. She cherished wearing the same earrings and necklace that her grandmother received at her mother's wedding.

No Big Designer

Taapsee revealed that her bridal outfits were designed by her college friend, Mani Bhatia, to keep the wedding private and avoid any leaks. She expressed, "My college friend, Mani Bhatia, designed all my outfits, and that’s how I wanted. I didn’t have any lehenga in my entire wedding because I wanted to dance a lot at all functions." For her haldi ceremony, she embraced a vintage Punjabi style, reminiscent of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, by wearing a lungi paired with a kurta. Her sangeet outfit featured bellbottom-styled pants with embellished work on the top and jacket, complemented by diamond solitaires as her sole accessory.
