Taapsee Pannu On IT Raids: On March 3, 2021 the properties of actor Taapsee Pannu was raided by the income tax department.

The properties of co-star Anurag Kashyap and others associated with the now-defunct Phantom production house were also raided. On March 8, Pannu was interviewed by several news publications such as The Quint and NDTV and had the following statements to give.

1. “I know I’m in the public eye and we pay a cost of being a public figure. So you need to be ready for any kind of scrutiny at any point.”

When Pannu was speaking about whether or not she and her family were surprised by the IT raid, Pannu stated that while her family was surprised, she wasn’t. She mentioned that she knows about the consequences that come with being a public figure.

2. “Is it criminal to ask questions?”

When asked about whether the IT raid will affect Pannu’s habit of being vocal about politics and social issues, she stated that she doesn’t know how to behave in any other matter. Pannu also stated that she believed she had not done anything wrong, and asked whether it was criminal to ask questions.

3. “When you’ve not really done anything wrong, then I don’t know why I should fear.”

Pannu said that she is “perfectly okay” with being in the public eye and being scrutinised as she has not done anything wrong. Since she was confident that she had not done anything wrong, she stated that she had nothing to fear.

4. “If there is a human error I’ll pay up for it as a punishment.”

Pannu stated that if she had made an error, then she has no issues with being punished for her mistakes. She added that she has no issues with the income tax raid taking place as she had nothing to hide.

5. “I am not a criminal, I have not done anything illegal criminally so I am not scared of any of those consequences.”

After stating that Pannu had no issues with facing punishment if she made a mistake, she added that she is not a criminal and has not done anything illegal. Due to this, she is not scared of legal consequences.

6. “Even if I get to know , what can I do about it? Can I change it? No. Do I want to change myself? No.”

Speaking about the theories that have been hatched about the reason behind the raid, Pannu stated that there was no way to find out. She stated that even if she asked the officials, they wouldn’t know either as they were following protocol. Pannu added that she is “totally fine with answering all the questions” and there was nothing to do other than follow protocol.
