Amazon Prime Video has revealed the release date for Suzhal - The Vortex. It is Amazon Prime Video’s first Tamil-language long-form scripted original series.
Suzhal – The Vortex’s was launched at the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) Weekend in Abu Dhabi.
It is an eight-episode crime thriller that revolves around the investigation of a missing girl and how her disappearance changed a small town in South India.
The web series is written and created by Pushkar and Gayatri, known for directing Vikram Vedha and its upcoming Hindi remake of the same name.
It is produced by Wallwatcher Films and directed by Bramma and Anucharan M. The cast consists of actors Kathir, known for his role in Pariyerum Perumal, Aishwarya Rajesh, known for her role in Kanaa, Sriya Reddy, known for her role in Sometimes, and Radhakrishnan Parthiban, known for his role in Single Slipper Size – 7.
Aparna Purohit, Amazon Prime Video Head of Indian Originals said that Suzhal – The Vortex is their first Tamil scripted original series and that Amazon believed it would “have a deep resonance with audiences across the world”.
Purohit called Suzhal – The Vortex a “nuanced, suspenseful thriller with a strong emotional core, imbued with the feverish passion of the creators” and described the show as a “winner”,
In another first, Suzhal – The Vortex will release across several Indian languages including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and English along with French, German, Italian, etc. The series will also be available with subtitles in a variety of global languages.
Writers and creators Pushkar and Gayatri said that the show would keep viewers entranced and at the edge of their seat as it has a “dark mystery at core ”.
The creators also spoke about how “Streaming has opened up many opportunities for homegrown content and there can’t be a better time for Indian shows and films to break international barriers.”
Suzhal - The Vortex Release Date
The Tamil crime thriller web series Suzhal – The Vortex will release on Amazon Prime Video and be available for streaming from June 17.
